Scientific Name: Brassica tournefortii

Description: A fruit (silique) of Brassica tournefortii (Sahara Mustard). The fruits of this highly invasive mustard species diverge stiffly from the stem at a forty-five degree angle. They are born on a half-inch pedicel (stalk) and have an obvious beak at the tip. One of the small (petals less than one-quarter inch) pale yellow flowers is in the lower right corner.
