Notes: Males have a dark (mostly brownish-black) anal tuft, and are generally darker.
Larval hosts: preferred - Platanus racemosa (California sycamore); also used - Quercus agrifolia (Coast live oak); occasionally avocado.
According to the University of California's Integrated Pest Management Program, "Sycamores tolerate extensive boring by this insect, and generally no control is recommended."
