Description: An adult female Sycamore Borer (Synanthedon resplendens) photographed on the Pomona College Campus.

Notes: Females have a mostly yellow anal tuft, and a generally more yellow appearance.
Larval hosts: preferred - Platanus racemosa (California sycamore); also used - Quercus agrifolia (Coast live oak); occasionally avocado.
According to the University of California's Integrated Pest Management Program, "Sycamores tolerate extensive boring by this insect, and generally no control is recommended."
